Microsoft is constantly tweaking Windows 10 to make it better. Some of these adjustments have worked out better than others. A Weather and News widget has been added to the taskbar, although you may not like it. Thankfully you can simply turn it off.
The “News and Interests” widget is available on
Windows 10 PCs. In a small box adjacent to the clock and notification area,
you'll see a weather prediction. When you select the widget, a panel appears
with further weather information, stocks, sports scores, news, and more.
You don't like a Bing-powered weather and news widget
on your taskbar, do you? No problem; getting rid of it is simple. Right-click
anywhere on the taskbar to begin.
Select "News and Interests" from the menu,
then "Turn Off" from the submenu.
It's done! The weather widget will be removed from
your taskbar. Simply open the same menu and select "Show Icon and
Text" to bring back the News and Interest widget at any moment.
You can also choose “Show Icon Only” for a smaller
widget that occupies less space on your taskbar.
